Charter questions, answered.
Everything first-time and frequent flyers ask us. Don’t see your question? Call or send us a note.
How much lead time do you need?
In most instances we can have you in the air in as little as a few hours. As with the airlines, our busiest time is around the holidays, when aircraft are generally booked weeks in advance.
Do people charter a jet just for themselves?
Sure. Business travelers do it all the time.
What if I’m only going one way?
One-way pricing may be available depending on your destination and how much advance notice you can give us.
What if I’m not coming back the same day?
Depending on your destination and the length of your stay, we will consider leaving the aircraft with you.
Can you fly my elderly parents?
We frequently fly senior citizens. We can also arrange to have their car brought right to the aircraft.
Can my dog come along?
Sure. In most cases household pets are no problem and can come on the aircraft.
Where will the aircraft pick me up and drop me off?
Flights departing and arriving at DuPage Airport use our own facility. Elsewhere, our aircraft park at an FBO (Fixed Base Operator), a facility designed to handle general aviation aircraft. DuPage Aerospace carefully screens the FBOs we use to ensure clean, modern facilities that offer our passengers the highest possible comfort and convenience.
How long from parking my car to takeoff?
About 10 minutes.
What if I’m running late?
Nothing happens. You are the star of the show, and the aircraft and crew happily wait for you.
Will my rental car or limo be waiting on the ramp when I land?
At most airports the answer is yes. At the busy ones that don’t allow it, the car will be waiting at the FBO a short walk away.
Can you arrange a limo or rental car at my destination?
Yes. We can arrange a limo, and in most cases car rental is available at your destination.
Do you only fly into major airports?
No. We can fly to approximately 5,000 more airports in the U.S. than the airlines.
Is there one pilot or two?
All DuPage Aerospace flights are conducted with two qualified, FAA-certificated pilots.
Is there a restroom on board?
All our jets have private lavatories. Most light, midsize and heavy jets in the industry are equipped with fully functioning, private restrooms.
Can we have a meal on board?
We provide complimentary drinks and snacks. Catering for complete meals is available.
Can I bring more people than the aircraft is rated for?
No. Safety rules won’t allow it: FAA rules require an oxygen mask for every person on board.
Are older jets less safe?
The numbers don’t show older jets being any less safe in the U.S. Insurance data also shows that flying is far safer than driving.
Do I have to clear customs on international flights?
The general rule is that each aircraft entering the U.S. must stop and clear customs at the first airport of entry. Many airports, however, are designated airports of entry and allow the aircraft and passengers to fly direct from certain countries and clear into the U.S. without stopping first. Customs officials come directly to the aircraft to clear the passengers, and the process typically takes 10 to 20 minutes.
What are “slots”?
At certain airports the FAA requires all arriving aircraft to reserve a landing time, referred to as a slot. Slots become available at a set time before the requested arrival (usually 72 hours) and are not confirmed until 24 hours before the day of travel. They are more difficult to obtain during peak travel to popular ski and tropical destinations such as Aspen and Florida, or around major events such as the Super Bowl and the Masters. Slots are a little like a lottery; there is no way to guarantee one. When slot programs are in effect, we recommend being as flexible as possible with arrival and departure times and arriving 30 minutes before your scheduled departure, since delays can result in forfeiture of a slot and a diversion to an alternate airport.
