Private Jet Charter to Skip the Traffic Jams to July 4th Festivities

Private jet travel can enable you to enjoy your July 4th vacation without traffic woes. Small towns across the U.S. offer a huge range of Independence Day activities that can jump-start your exploration of a new locale. Coastal areas offer some truly amazing backdrops to both parades and fireworks. But, picturesque regions by the ocean can involve hours of driving in traffic that can decrease your enjoyment. The following are five unique coastal destinations for July 4th events that can be reached easily by private jet.

Private Jet to Bar Harbor, Maine

Since the early twentieth century, this town on Mount Desert Island has been a favorite destination of upper-crust society—and the summer home of many celebrities. As the gateway to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor is family-friendly with strolling areas to enjoy exquisite views of the ocean. In order to limit auto pollution, there is a free summer shuttle-van service that traverses the area including the Park. You can fly into Bangor International Airport (in Bangor, Maine) and catch a shuttle directly to Bar Harbor’s Village Green.

Families line both sides of Route 3 (near downtown Bar Harbor) in their lounge chairs to view the Independence Day parade—replete with child-sized fire trucks driven by local fire personnel. The fireworks that explode over Frenchmen’s Bay are illuminated by the water. You will notice a lot of tourists in hiking boots and on bicycles. There are 45 miles of pedestrian and bicycle carriage roads (with no cars allowed), thanks to philanthropic support beginning in 1913. By all means, arrive by private airplane to this area. You won’t miss your car!

Private Airplane Charter to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

Private jet charter is an excellent way to reach this island on Cape Cod. It has been a longstanding favorite of political figures due to its tranquility and cultural ambience. The village of Oak Bluffs has been a favorite spot for well-heeled African Americans on vacation since the early twentieth century. While the fireworks display is bigger in Edgartown, Oak Bluffs also has fireworks. Most tourists take a ferry from the mainland to arrive on Martha’s Vineyard—and only a limited number of autos are allowed on each ferry. As in Bar Harbor, summer bus-shuttle service (costing one dollar) is offered to discourage visitors from arriving with cars. Fly to Martha’s Vineyard Airport (actually located in West Tisbury, Massachusetts), and transfer to the bus-shuttle or a taxi.

Private Jet to Angel Island (near San Francisco, CA)

You can take a private jet charter to San Francisco International Airport (and a cab to Fisherman’s Wharf to catch the ferry to Angel Island). While San Francisco’s fireworks display is one of the nation’s best, the crowds can be claustrophobic. It is possible to enjoy the same fireworks from a peaceful and quiet area. This island is only a half-hour by ferry from the wharf, but you can even camp overnight. As a historical military site, it is well worth the visit—and the fireworks look just as magnificent without breaking your eardrums!

Private Jet Charter to Newport, Rhode Island

The famous mansions built in the 1920s (overlooking breathtaking “Cliff Walk”) are not the only sites worth touring on your trip to this small city of 24,000 residents. Fort Adams State Park includes the largest U.S. fort (built in 1799), and is also the site of an array of July 4th activities—including a dazzling fireworks display over the harbor. By private jet charter company to T.F. Green Airport (Warwick, RI), you can catch a shuttle van to Newport (or shuttle into Providence and take a ferry to Newport).

Private Airplane to Beaufort, North Carolina

Tourists from Washington, DC have long vacationed in this “Crystal Coast” town. Beaufort’s historical nineteenth century buildings have been moved to re-create a historical village that is easy to navigate on foot. The Independence Day events are held in Beaufort (and the fireworks display at nearby Atlantic Beach). From the Coastal Carolina Regional Airport in New Bern, it is only an hour by car to Beaufort—but a world away.
